Time to switch browsers?
Recent cyber attacks against Google due to a flaw in Microsoft Internet Explorer, which allowed Chinese hackers to break into Google email accounts of dissidents and human rights activists, have left many wondering whether it is time to switch to a different web browser. The nations of France and Germany have gone so far as to recommend their citizens do so in order to avoid similar security issues. Microsoft has provided a patch which plugs up this security flaw but only if users are responsible about applying updates. Remember that security fixes only work if you apply them and keep your systems updated. Yes, it is sometimes annoying to worry about updates or to upgrade to the newest browser out there but it helps make your computer more secure and problem free so remember to stay on top of things. And of course you can always try out a new browser. Among the most popular alternatives are Mozilla Firefox, Google Chrome and the Opera browser.
